Presented in this auction is a VERY unusual, VERY unique one of a kind pre-production sample of the Predator 2 Micro Bust “Stealth” Exclusive, coming this winter from Palisades!
As you know, a pre-production sample is a special preview sample that the factory sends for review and ultimately it is reviewed by the product development department and the licensor, although the term pre-production sample covers many different stages of the review process. This sample is a factory PPS, or pre-production sample, used to show us the factory work and to approve it.
As we were developing the regular version of the Predator 2 Micro Bust, we had an idea to do a “stealth” version of the bust as a possible variant exclusive. During some communications with the factory they explained that to so a piece in polystone as all clear would result in oxidization of the material, turning it yellow. They suggested a slight tint to the material, in a color, so that the oxidization would be unnoticeable. We agreed but gave them no specs, assuming it would be a slightly tinted coloring.
So, we figure we will get a piece with a light tint, and then we receive this piece instead! A VERY GREEN sample! When we opened the box, after the initial shock wore off, we laughed and then put the piece aside to move on with the production of the piece in a very lightly tinted blue scheme. What makes this story even MORE funny is that a LONG time ago, with a different factory, the EXACT same thing occurred on the large Predator bust when we were kicking around the idea of doing a clear version. What is it with the color green and Predator to the factory people? We have no idea.
It is important to note that only ONE of these items was ever produced and sent to the US for this review process and the bust in this condition will never be offered for retail sale. You can see why! So bid away, knowing that you will be owning a very unique piece of Predator polystone history."
