Here is an record keeping journal.
It spans from 1868 to 1878.
353 pages of which 286 are filled.  Portions of the first 44 pages have some newspaper glued in (some full glue, some just edges of the newspaper is glued).  Most of it should be able to be removed.
The book is initialed on the binding and inside in pencil, "C.T.S."  The owner was a trader in tea and sundries.  Business was conducted in New York and much business was done overseas in China.
Many of the entries are of Smith, Archer & Co.  This appears to be the journal book of the owner of that business, C.T. Smith.  Reference the "Chronicle & Directory for China, Japan, the Philippines &c. Hong Kong for the year 1868".
It measures 13 5/8" by 9 1/4".
A bit of the binding leather has come off at the top and bottom.
