Do You Need A Grease Bucket Upgrade?
The "tone" controls of your electric guitar or bass is an adjustable low-pass filter. It let only the low frequencies pass through to the amplifier while the high frequencies get sent to ground through the tone capacitor.
    A typical "tone" control circuit
(used in a Stratocaster, for example)
has a 250K pot with a .022uF capacitor. As the tone is rolled off with a regular tone control, bass frequency becomes more prominent.
A Grease Bucket tone circuit also uses a 250K pot with .022uF capacitor. But it has an additional 4.7K resistor and .1uF capacitor.
It is a vastly improved tone control that combines a high-pass and a low-pass filter to let just the middle frequencies pass through to the amplifier. Basically, it stop your tone control from producing a noticeably "muddy" signal. This makes your Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jazz Bass (and every other instrument's) tone control(s) more useful.
Many professional guitar players now use Grease Bucket to eliminate muddiness in a distorted sound.
Normally, a Stratocaster has three 250K pots. One for the Volume control and the other two for what we call "tone". A standard Telecaster has two 250K pots, one for volume and the other for tone.
In the "stock" Stratocaster, the tone pots share a common .022uF capacitor. But in the Grease Bucket circuit, each "tone" pot has it's own .022uF capacitor, 4.7K resistor, and a .1uF capacitor. This means that the "tone" pots are no longer tied together.
To convert your Stratocaster or Telecaster normal tone controls to Grease Bucket specifications, you simply attach our GB-Pro-1 upgrade to your Tone control. Stratocasters need two upgrade products if you want to do both Tone controls; your Telecaster uses just one upgrade product.
You also need to remove the stock capacitor on each Tone control, and take the wire that is connected to the tone control's terminal #3 and connect it to terminal #1. We made this simple for you. You just cut the wire at the terminal #3 and connect it to the RED wire attached to the GB-Pro-1 upgrade. An included UY2 connector lets you connect the two wires using pliers.
Because our upgrades mirror Fender specifications, you just "drop it in" and capture its benefits.
    Works with 250K & 500K pots.
Works with all Single Coils & Humbuckers.
    Completely passive-No battery needed.
Does not affect your tone at full clockwise setting.
Mounts to any standard or "mini" tone pot. Flip it over and mount it to push-pull pots
    We use mylar capacitors.
    Warning:
Ceramic caps will give you the worst frequency response.
Best grease bucket upgrade. Lowest cost. Buy several and save on shipping.
    Simple installation.
Comes with simple instructions. To install this upgrade, you need a low heat soldering iron, rosin core solder, wire cutters and pliers.
How To Install Your Grease Bucket Upgrade
Clip and remove the stock capacitor
(the included instructions show you where and how)
    .
Clip the wire connected to tone control terminal #3 and connect it to the
    RED
    wire
    (tone control terminal #1)
    using the supplied
    UY2
    connector.
Remove the backing from the adhesive tape under your Grease Bucket circuit board. Move the three slots of the circuit board as close as possible to the three tone control terminals to make physical contact, then press the circuit board down on the back of the tone control. The adhesive tape will hold it in place.
Flow solder on all three tone control terminals and your Grease Bucket circuit board slots. Just
    "tack"
the connections and avoid excessive solder.
    Connect
    (solder)
    your Grease Bucket circuit board
    BLACK
    wire to common ground.
Now you can enjoy superior performance from your electric guitar or bass with this upgrade.

Because the "Greasebucket" name is a registered Fender trademark, we use two separate common English language words "Grease Bucket" to describe our GB-Pro-1 upgrade product.
