    Description

    In 1935 the Social Security Act was passed in the United States.  In November of 1936, the first Social Security Numbers were issued.  This card was issued December 12, 1936.  Paper card issued by the local Post Office.  Engraved brass finish card was manufactured by S. M. Spencer, Boston, Massachusetts.  Unique collectible marking the beginning of Social Security.
