Description
You are bidding on:An antique tax receipt from the Sheriff of Wayne County (West Virginia), for the property of Jesse Queen -- 100 acres on Queen's Ridge. I can't decipher the Sheriff's name -- possibly Adkins.
A quick genealogy search of Jesse Queen found that he was the son of Reverend James "Jumping Jimmie" Queen, a well-known reverend in Wayne County (and buried at the Queen's Ridge Cemetery). Jesse was born in Lawrence County KY in 1840 and died in Salt Rock, Cabell County WV in 1926.
Condition:
The tax receipt is in good condition. It has been folded numerous times but is legible and the paper is not brittle.
