1865 IRS Tax Receipt for G.W. Williams of Hancock County KY from R.M. Hathaway

For sale is an original vintage tax receipt from the United States Internal Revenue Service that is more than 150 years old. It was issued to G.W. Williams of Hancock County, Kentucky, on September 15, 1865, just months after the end of the Civil War. Williams paid a total of 1.90 in taxes for his ,558 in income, plus a pianoforte that was valued at more than 0. The one-page receipt is signed by the tax collector, R.M. Hathaway. It m
easures 8 by 10 1/2 inches and is in very good condition, with mailing folds.
